Description

In Ibi Village, 2 main acacia species are planted: Acacia auriculiformis and Acacia mangium. The acacia is a fast growing local species; the tree can reach a height of 30 meters in 6 to 7 years. These trees, which fix atmospheric nitrogen through symbiotic bacteria living in their roots, can grow in areas with low nitrogen soils and they also enrich them for food crops. Of course, trees capture CO2 for their growth and thus fully contribute to reducing greenhouse gases.
